According to a new report from the Advisory Board of the Florida health insurance, the number of people in Florida with private health insurance continues to decline.
About 3.7 million people have commercial insurance, down from nearly 3.9 million in 2009 and 4.5 million in 2006. Drop last year came primarily from losses in the market for small groups in the see countries, declining enrollment of nearly 19 percent. See the individual market is 3 per cent in 2010. But the report, which is updated every year, said the uptick was associated with a decrease in range of the market in small groups. “Because of the natural link between the small business coverage and reach, registration advantage in the market individuals can reflect somewhat the weakening market for small groups as small entrepreneurs drop coverage,” the report said.
Last year, Florida have discovered information (. xls) 2010 census from 2008-2010, the Florida average percentage of insured people was 20.7 per cent. The national average for citizens insurance is 15.6 percent.
Florida also is leading the fight against federal health care reform laws that are written to expand health insurance coverage in the area. Florida and 25 other countries have appealed to the U.s. Supreme Court to rule on the constitutionality of the Act. The trial will begin in March.
